Vistas and Visions of a Blind Man: Adventures in A 'EYE'
This exciting, original, multi-arts Fringe event will engage and delight you from start to finish.
Iconoclastic and totally blind Covid poet Tony Doyle, who can’t read his own poems, uses an AI simulation of his voice to recite a selection of his poems, which will be interspersed with his ‘blind humour’ and live music from ‘Orchid’ a multi-instrumental music ensemble of talented musicians which has been created for this project and, includes a number of original pieces. It’s music which won’t blast your ears off.
The aim of this show is to make you laugh and cry with everything in between; whatever your reactions, the live music will soothe your heart and soul.

Tony Doyle was born in Manchester, U.K. in 1948, with partial eyesight due to a degenerative eye disease. He has been totally blind for many years. He lives in Adelaide, South Australia with his wife Jane and has travelled to several dozen countries. In 2002 he received an Australian Centenary Medal, and in 2015, he received the ‘Ros Bower Award’ through the Australia Council, for his lifetime achievements in community cultural development. He is also a past recipient of Churchill and Australia Council fellowships.
Tony’s poetry book Vista and Visions of a Blind man published in 2023 will entertain, challenge, amuse and perhaps shock you. They take a critical look at modern life, cultural phenomena and possible future scenarios. Other poems will cheer you up with quirky humour.
