J.R.R. Tolkien’s 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy has delighted readers for 70 years & the author’s poetry has inspired many composers to set his words to music. Come on a magical journey with acclaimed Adelaide harpist-singer Emma Horwood as she presents music setting Tolkien’s poetry, interspersed with dramatic reading from the books, set against visual imagery on screens at Adelaide's fabulous multi-media venue 'The Lab'. Featuring works by English composers Stephen Oliver & Donald Swan, & Australian composers Helen Cartridge, Andrew Close, Carl Crossin & Judith Clingan. Acclaimed harpist & singer Emma Horwood is a music graduate of the University of Adelaide, known for her purity of tone, versatility &engaging stage presence. Emma is a member of Syntony vocal sextet, collaborates as a duo with her husband (Adelaide Symphony Orchestra principal percussionist Steve Peterka), is a member of Harp2Harp duo & directs the SA Celtic Harp Orchestra. Playing both pedal & Celtic harp & accompanying her voice, she loves to connect with audiences in intimate venues, weaving a magic spell with her classical, Celtic, contemporary & original repertoire, enhanced by history and storytelling of the music. Emma performs regularly as harpist & vocalist at weddings, funerals, private & corporate events, recitals & festivals. Her five solo CD’s have featured on ABC Classic FM.
