[Comedy/Stand Up ~ VIC ~ WORLD PREMIERE] The Piglet at Gluttony, Sat 9 Mar, 2024. Camper Van Go is a hilarious tale all about Lehmo’s family holiday from hell. Lehmo (a.k.a. Anthony Lehman) had the audience in the palm of his hand throughout the entire show as he ran through every detail of his National Lampoon-like disaster. Lehmo is effortlessly funny; his delivery, his sense of humour and the way he can keep firing jokes is impeccable. Even with a sold out room, the show kept that feeling of an intimate one-on-one small comedy show. This is traditional stand-up – one comedian on stage telling relatable jokes – and he does it so well. The crowd itself largely consists of early adults to middle aged people. I would recommend people in that age range (18-55) see the show, mainly because I find the act is relatable to those that are in that age group. It’s also traditional stand up, a comedian standing on stage with a microphone telling jokes, and Lehmo does it so well. He may be the first comedian to tell literal Dad jokes (that’s jokes from a dad’s perspective). I had the opportunity to speak to Lehmo himself after the performance. He was down to earth and happy to speak with me. I asked him how Camper Van Go compared to his previous shows at the Adelaide Fringe, Lehmo responded with “It’s the usual, narrative followed, but I like to bring something new every year to festivals”. There is never really a story that people dislike, so we welcome Lehmo to keep bringing new narratives every year. I couldn’t resist myself asking if every audience have the energy my crowd brought or is Adelaide different? “All my audiences bring an awesome energy, especially Adelaide, you guys are legends” He answered. Lehmo brought a phenomenal show, full of laughs, and was able to make everyone feel like they were his mates, like we were just at the pub. The audience absolutely loved him. Lehmo is an awesome comedian and a great bloke.
