Our Mugshot Canteen is open for coffee, snacks and cold drinks. Last Entry into the Gaol 8pm.

The Adelaide Gaol is one of the oldest remaining colonial public buildings in Adelaide and is the site of some of the State's more interesting, grisly past.
Built in 1841, it was one of South Australia’s first permanent prisons and operated for 147 years, with around 300,000 prisoners passing through its gates and 45 executions carried out onsite.
Today, the Gaol stands as a significant heritage site, offering a deep and at times chilling insight into the colony’s early history.

Entrance to the Adelaide Gaol is currently through Bonython park due to the new Women's and Children's Hospital being built.
