Odissi originates from the ancient temples of Orissa, East India. It is characterized by the fluidity of the upper torso, executed with graceful hand gestures and firm footwork. The talented dancers of the Temple of Fine Arts Adelaide bring you some of their finest work. This form of Indian classical dance has gained much popularity in the world and is renowned for its sculpturesque poses, graceful dancing and elegant costumes.

Our odissi dance style is under the lineage of the stalwart of Odissi dance, the late Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra from Orissa.

The Temple of Fine Arts Adelaide (“TFA Adelaide”) is a dance company established in April 1992 by Vithya Karthigesu. It is a branch of an Internationally acclaimed institution called the Temple of Fine Arts with its parent institution in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The artistic director and principal of TFA Adelaide is Vithya Karthigesu who is a qualified Bharatanatyam and Odissi Teacher.

In TFA Adelaide we offer classes for Bharatanatyam and Odissi, These are 2 of the most ancient and classical dance styles of India. TFA Adelaide has also performed in many local events and shows and won critical acclaim. We teach students to rediscover their cultural, artistic and spiritual heritage.
