SAST

Theatre and Physical Theatre
South Australia • World Premiere

Alexander Sast was once called the bravest of the Anzac brave. Set partly in a cabaret atmosphere in the early 1900s SAST is the story of this Odesa born Australian hero who was captured in Gallipoli, escaped from a Turkish prison and fled to Archangel in the Arctic Circle. Written and directed by Bob Becker, SAST uses original music written by the award-winning Charli Holoubek to capture the mood of the places that Alexander Sast visited during his great escape.  SAST delves into the lives of the emigre community in Australia that escaped from Czarist oppression and  then cajoled into serving for the AIF in WW1. This should interest those who want to learn more about the multi-cultural make up of that first group of Anzacs that landed in Gallipoli on April 25, 1915.
