River Man
Nick Drake's legacy comprises some of the most beautiful and haunting melodies in the English folk music canon, influencing artists as diverse as Beck, Kate Bush, Paul Weller, REM and The Cure. Come and join with Empty Swing to celebrate this extraordinary artist in the 50th year anniversary of his untimely death at age 26.
Empty Swing will be supported by the sweet harmonies of all-female special guest band Wild Blue Yonder playing hits by The Pretenders, The Smiths, First Aid Kit, Radiohead, Sinead O'Connor and many more.
The Alta Villa kitchen will serve authentic Southern Italian cuisine in their shaded courtyard setting.
Doors and kitchen open 6pm, Wild Blue Yonder from 7pm, Empty Swing from 8.30pm.
Presented by: Empty Swing
Empty Swing is a collective of miserable ageing ideologues in the vanguard of acoustic musics' distal third phalanx.
Wild Blue Yonder are Susie Chittleborough - guitar and vocals, Sheryl Wilson - drums and Alice Orchard - bass and vocals.
Susie studied a Certificate of Contemporary Music (Bass major) in 1993 in Lismore NSW. She has now mostly plays guitar and sings. She is a current member of original band Dreamer Schema and the local Hills Choral Society.
Sheryl grew up in Darwin and started learning percussion at an early age. Alice works as a music therapist and is also a songwriter. She (along with Susie!) sings in folk-rock bands Dreamer Schema and Country Town Collective. Wild Blue Yonder are delighted to perform at the Adelaide Fringe Festival, even if with Empty Swing.
This will be an outdoor show unless raining or scorchingly hot
