I want to be the World's Greatest Magician
Don't you just hate it when the government gets in the way of your dreams?
'I Want to Be the World’s Greatest Magician' follows the tension between where you’re born and the impact you long to make in a world that would rather you stay invisible. Through avant-garde magic, we explore the pull of leaving home for pursuits your own culture misunderstands, and the fight to be seen when the infrastructure to shine barely exists.
Join magic's rebellious auteur and inventor of its first art movement, Annanya George, for a magic show that makes you rethink everything you know about the art-form. We will make you want to laugh, cry and go to a protest.
Australian Premiere - Coming from Off-Broadway, NYC.
For weeknight ticket purchasers, bring the most "interesting" objects you can fit in your hand and we will improvise a magic trick with it in our show.
Presented by: Supernatural Hangover
An Off-Broadway performer, Annanya George was described as a ‘trouble-maker’ in the October 2024 issue of Genii, magic’s most prestigious magazine. Editor Jim Steinmeyer added, ‘His approach is funny, deeply personal, and wildly insightful’; a description that still fits everything George creates today. Over the last two decades, he has invented his own genre of magic, which he calls ‘Magic as Medium Agnostic’. With an emphasis on conceptual storytelling, George has worked across sculpture, film, and live performance, questioning the very form magic inhabits while carving a unique path for its future.
