March 20 at Piccadilly. HeARTflicks 'Meet the Makers' Screening hosted by the Directors of four award winning Australian Films:
- Wise Words - (G) heartwarming interaction between a homeless man and woman on park bench. (Australia)
- TIDAL - (G) A great first film from emerging Director Sofia Poli. Family violence effects loved ones too. (Australia)
- All Three Counts - (M) crime drama that challenges men to act against domestic violence. (Australia)
- Aphelion - (R18+) dramatic feature, told in real time, of a young woman trapped in an abusive relationship (Australia)

The main feature APHELION, told in real time, shows the last 90 minutes of one woman's life. It's confronting with frequent course language and includes sexual violence. Feel her pain. Must see.
NOTE - Aphelion has no frontal nudity but depicts sex scenes, has frequent course language. Depicts escalating abuse.

Based in South Australia, Steven is a retiree and 'nubie' writer, actor and producer.
He loves film and wants to bring together the ART of film production with HEART to make a difference. With 40 years experience as a writer and producer in the corporate sector he is now turning his time to create and showcase narratives that can make a difference. Steven's motivation to raise awareness around issues of domestic violence came through experiences in his own family.
Steven is a 'mature' student at the Ann Peters School of Acting, he has a BA in Communications (Film & Television), he has written and produced two short films - 'Tamika Agent in Time' with Monkey Stack and 'HEADSHOT' with Double Impact.
The 2025 HeARTflicks Charity Screening raised $3000 for the Zahra Foundation.

The subject of domestic violence needs to be addressed. The final feature film shows how an abusive partner can escalate in an insidious way. Every 6 days a woman is killed in Australia by her partner or former partner. The films challenge us all, especially men, to look out for the signs of domestic violence and then do something to prevent it.
