Empty nest
Triggered by a visceral response of seeing the whole of a life in the tiny, seemingly aged body of a baby bird, 'Empty nest' examines the enduring experience of motherhood.
The work invites consideration of the parallel life journeys shared between birds and humanity.
Participants are invited to enter a nest and consider what an empty nest means to them.

Presented by: Margaret Ambridge
Margaret Ambridge is an multidisciplinary artist living and working on Kaurna land. Margaret works with drawing, sculpture, installation, photography and video. She has been a finalist and winner of many national art prizes.
Her works explore the liminal spaces of the human condition, its fears, loves and taboo’s, the difficult conversational and experiential places we avoid.
Her tonal approach involves endless charcoal marks and subsequent erasure. The method is slow, the passage of time allowing her to examine her own responses to complex conversations, to question the boundaries we place on each other and our environments.
