Brief Encounters
Created by Platform Academy and first launched at Fringe 2017, this uplifting project returns after a COVID hiatus to support emerging Cabaret and Fringe artists.
Performers create their own mini-show, backed by live musicians and mentored by industry professionals. Many past artists have gone on to tour, win awards, launch ep's, and create full-length festival shows. This year’s cohort is just beginning that journey -designing the seeds of future gigs, cabarets, and creative careers.
This year’s cohort is just beginning that journey - with guidance, workshops, and portfolio support along the way from industry professionals. Set in the intimate Warehouse Theatre, audiences can relax with great wine and enjoy a vibrant evening of a Brief Encounter of music, artistry, and creative discovery.
Please note: This event has had a date change from 'Friday 13th March at 6pm' to 'Saturday 14th March at 7:45pm' since the Adelaide Fringe Guide was printed.
Presented by: Platform Productions
Founded in 2013 by acclaimed teacher and performer Kim Spargo, Platform Academy was created to offer emerging artists in Adelaide a unique, collaborative, and interdisciplinary training experience.
Since then, it has flourished - building a strong presence at Adelaide Fringe, delivering workshops with industry professionals, and offering high-level courses in audition preparation, music theatre, and the music industry. Students engage in individual lessons across vocals, dance, drama, stagecraft, songwriting, theory, and full-scale productions.
Brief Encounters was first launched at Fringe 2017 - an exciting opportunity for students to develop a short performance piece of their own, supported every step of the way by experienced mentors and live musicians.
