Anakronies
After a hugely successful Fringe debut in 2025, Lyrebyrd Consort is back with music spanning 1500 years! Come and hear music from the Viking era through to the 21st century, played on ancient instruments, with evocative readings from the Poetic Edda. Presented by Lyrebyrd Consort, a group whose mission is to discover and perform music from the past, and to explore different sonorities and combinations of musical ideas, to keep the music alive. You have two Adelaide venues to choose from. We look forward to meeting you and transporting you back in time.
Presented by: Lyrebyrd Consort
Lyrebyrd Consort has been performing early music on a range of instruments common in Medieval and Renaissance times since 2008. Led by Musical Director Garth Rowe, Lyrebyrd’s mission is to discover and perform rare and evocative music from the past.
As well as specialist Medieval and Renaissance music performed in our Adelaide Fringe Festival debut in 2025, Lyrebyrd has showcased music from Viking times for the SA Museum Viking Festival and performed for the first time at The English Ale in Mylor. These performances are not only about music, but about transporting audiences back to a bygone age, and introducing them to a range of weird and wonderful instruments.
