AMVC Sings G&S

Music
The Adelaide Male Voice Choir was formed in 1884 as the Adelaide English Glee Society. Although it has changed its name it hasn't changed its commitment to providing top quality performances of great music for the enjoyment of the South Australian community. This concert features highlights from a number of Gilbert and Sullivan comic operas, which were all the rage around the time the Choir was first established. As guest soloists with the Choir, well-known opera soprano Joanna McWaters and baritone Andrew Turner demonstrate their versatility in a variety of roles. The witty lyrics and sparkling music are as fresh today as ever. Sit back and enjoy this delightful performance of music specially selected for this occasion. The previous concerts were sold-out, so book now for a real treat.

The Adelaide Male Voice Choir was founded in 1884 and has been delighting Adelaide audiences with its music performances ever since. It performs a wide repertoire, including songs from opera, operetta, musicals, sacred music, folk songs, spirituals and modern music. Many of the pieces have been arranged specifically for the Choir by its musical director William Shaw OAM. The Choir has a long history of supporting charities in the local community and further afield through fund-raising concerts. It performs regularly in Adelaide and the metropolitan area and also undertakes music tours of country areas and interstate. It has a fine tradition of good singing and good fellowship, and new members are warmly welcome to join the circle of music and friendship.
