A STAN IS BORN!
Born in New York City, Alexis is forced to follow his family to... rural Germany. UGH. Trapped in a conservative culture clash, discovering pop divas online is his only salvation: Céline, Whitney, Mariah, Beyoncé, Aretha... you name 'em, he got 'em. With 10 original songs, sung and played live on keyboard, Alexis vigorously shares the queer joy in becoming a stan (a super-duper-UBER-fan). But stanning has its limits. Somehow being obsessed with women makes you... g-gAy?! News to me... Does Alexis have what it takes to stan himself, conquer the German bullies and find the diva within?? A campy, queer, heartfelt hour of musical comedy. Bo Burnham but GAY! ★★★★ THE STAGE. Brighton Fringe Best New Show Award Nominee. EdFringe+Soho Theatre sellout. Tour support for Matt Rogers (Las Culturistas)
Presented by: Alexis Sakellaris
Alexis is a queer international artist born in New York City BUT has Greek/Austrian/Italian roots BUT was raised in Germany, so that makes them WHAT? GAY! After training in Musical Theatre at London's Mountview Academy, they've been doing musical comedy since their first gig in 2023 as tour support for Matt Rogers (Las Culturistas) in his show Have You Heard Of Christmas? Since then, Alexis has done EdFringe twice, Brighton Fringe once, and a mini-tour of their award-nominated debut show A STAN IS BORN! Past projects include the first German translation of Fleabag, and they're currently working on a musical adaptation of the Greek hero Achilles. Their work is often genre-bending and takes inspiration from Cat Cohen, Rachel Bloom and Bo Burnham to bridge the gap theatre, comedy and music.
