A Groovy Night in "Nam" - the Early Years
A light-hearted, fun-filled look at the music, conflict zone concerts and performers that entertained our Aussie troops and support peronnel in the early years of the Vietnam War 1965 to 1968.
The team that presented the highly successful "A Groovy Night in Nam - The Second Tour" at the 2023 Adelaide Fringe has combined again, this time to present a show that focusses on the music from the early years of the conflict.
The audience is once again invited to present themselves as troops attending a conflict zone concerts - to sing, dance, cheer, clap along as the "Groove Brothers and Soul Sister" vocal team backed by "The Half Back Line" band, have the house rockin, the Go-Go girls groovin' whilst a very frustrated emcee from Australian Forces Radio tries to get in on the act.
To join in the flavor of the show - audience members being troops at a concert, are encouraged to dress up as members of the Australian service personnel from the era.
Presented by: 'Back in the Groove'
'Back in the Groove' - a collaboration between the Plympton Glenelg RSL sub-branch, 'Groove Brothers and Soul Sister' and 'The Half Backline' band
"Groove Brothers and Soul Sister" vocal trio and the "The Half Back Line" band are a group of very experienced musicians who had great success with a similarly themed show at the 2023 Adelaide Fringe. The "Ladybirds" Go-Go girls were also a key part of last year's success, and they are joining the fun again in 2024. The fabulous Paul Bock returns to his role as both the big voiced Australian Forces Radio DJ, Emcee, (and commander of the show!) - who once again brings his driven ambition to be on stage with all the guys.
