We’re attending the “pinnacle of culture” tonight; two goofy comedians dressed in loud, tucked-in shirts ready to deliver stand-up comedy.
Hot Boy Summer “doesn’t mean anything” they tell us, but is just their tongue-in-cheek humour.
The 55-minute show is split in two, with an introduction before Ben Knight performs for the first half, and Nick Capper the second.
Getting a taste of each comedian works well.
Knight has a strong, confident stage presence, with good delivery and punchlines, as he talks about the subcultures of Queensland, such as hippies and bogans, and his work as a teacher.
Capper’s routine includes his experience of testicular cancer, and is a little darker, but lightened with plenty of dick jokes.
Overall, it works for its later timeslot, being silly, fun and delivering many laugh-out-loud moments.
