Amna Bee provides funny and insightful cultural observations in this 50-minute show. Her perspective on life is unique and broad, after being born into a conservative family in Pakistan, living in Canada, then recently becoming an Australian citizen. Anyone with a connection to these cultures would relate to the content, as she pokes fun at the cultural clashes between each country, as well as within Australia itself, from cities to country towns, and places such as Alice Springs and Byron Bay. We also hear stories of her divorce and re-entering the dating world, and her work as a translator. The feminist doesn’t mind breaking some rules and social conventions, which lends itself well to comedy, and her jokes can be edgy, sometimes dark, sometimes sexual. Confident, and engaging, Amna delivers good punchlines and transitions, and interacts with the crowd well.
