From the same team behind award winning 80’s Ladies comes So Fresh! Hits of the 2000s. While you are forgiven for expecting an audience of aging millennials revisiting the soundtrack of their youth, there is also a healthy crowd of zoomers ready to rock at their opening on Tuesday evening. The sound of the noughties is universal.

Chloe Castledine and Joshua Angeles lead a ten-piece ensemble, including a full band and four talented dancers. Castledine proves once again that her voice is masterful, seamlessly changing from Christina Aguilera in Lady Marmalade to Vanessa Carlton in A Thousand Miles. Angeles’s charismatic stage presence and killer dance moves are undeniable, whether performing Justin Timerlake in Rock Your Body or Outkast in Hey Ya!

The high level of details, rehearsal, and professionalism from the artists is obvious. They support each other to seamlessly recover from minor technical difficulties. The transitions from song to song flow naturally. There is also bespoke lighting, costumes, and dances for every song. Some choreography is original, although they also bring back iconic dance moves. It is like seeing vintage music videos love to life for Oops! I Did it Again by Britney Spears, Single Ladies by Beyonce, and Bye Bye Bye by NSYNC.

Early in the performance, dancers hold aloft large white boards with lyrics written on them for This Love by Maroon 5, Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus, and Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes. This coaxes even the hesitant members of the audience to sing along and enlivens the atmosphere. By the time Castledine performs Untouched by The Veronicas, a happy group of millennials in gingham dresses and mum haircuts are seen jumping out of their seats and creating an impromptu mosh pit in the aisles, busting out some impressive dance moves.

So Fresh! Hits of the 2000s is best enjoyed with a group of friends, to sing along with you and share your enthusiasm.
