This one may contain lactose, but it’s still a highly amoosing treat. Yes, the cow and milk jokes come thick and fast as we join Wendel, the last milkman in Australia, on an epic battle against the terrors of soy milk. Will he defeat the forces of evil and keep his last customer (Suzy Lou, 92, size six shoe), and bring the whole show to a mooving climax? Oh, we do hope so.
Because Nicolas Angelosanto is a silly goose, all gangly limbs and likeability. This new show spins a highly unlikely tale through song, flashback, audience participation and absolutely no bull. The genius of it though is that we’re actually properly rooting for Wendel; he’s an endangered species after all, and there are fewer milkmen than white rhino left in the wild. Angelosanto’s performance is richly detailed and layered; not a single opportunity is missed to add detail to the wild and crazy world he conjures up using just his body, his words and a handful of props. From origin story flashback to Wendel’s appearance on Australia’s Got Talent, the laughs come thick and fast, just like squirty cream. It’s wonderful, creative and funny stuff and it’s clear Angelosanto has a bright future in comedy: you herd it here first.
