Boats and Bogans played sold-out shows in Adelaide and Perth in 2020 and now the Multicultural Comedy crew are bringing the madness back to Adelaide. This literally colourful collection of some of the best raw stand-up comedians in Adelaide is full of raw stories and one-liners that may shock and challenge you.
Boats and Bogans is a comedy show for those who like their jokes raw. Your tattooed MC for night is Rudes (RAW comedy winner 2020). He kicks off the show with a bang and leaps straight into the no-holds-barred comedy with gusto.
Your white-privilege underpants will get pulled right up by his hooks. Don't stress, he'll let you down gently...
Avoiding any small-talk, Delhi Bouy explains a bit about what Australia means to him and some of the challenges he's faced. His dry delivery is perfect for the material. He's on a mission to cancel small-talk because he just doesn't get it. If nobody is paying attention, why do we even need it anyway?
Next up is Barry. His Scottish accent hits you straight away and you know this is one hell of a diverse and raw show. Barry's bit will hit you right between the eyes. It's rude and risky stuff.
Henry. What can one say about Henry? He reckons he looks like a thumb. He'll even give you his home address if you'd like to go around and beat him up later.
Paul the black is a self-proclaimed black person. His infectious smile and gentle manner belie a wicked and very personal humour that only he can pull off.
There is a semi-serious undertone to the show. This is a showcase of comedians from all points of the ethnic and cultural compass. It just might teach you a thing or two about the differences and similarities that we all live with and share.
Before you get there though, there's the in-your-face raw and rough comedy style that will take a little getting used to.
This isn't polished stuff (psssst... that's what raw comedy means). Boats and Bogans is a gloriously raw comedy mash-up staight outta contemporary society but I'm not sure most of society is ever going to be ready for this.
This show is what Fringe Festivals are for. Go have some fun pushing the boundaries of raw comedy and check it out.
Boats and Bogans plays at The Squeaker at Gluttony from 20th February until 7th March 2021. The Squeaker is an open-air venue - an innovative necessity in modern times but it fits the show perfectly. You can get all the details here.
