If the noisy, busy Fringe hubs or crazy, overstimulating shows aren’t for your kids, then ‘I Spy With My Little Ahhhh’ is possibly the perfect show for your family. Set in the Botanic Gardens, it is calm, relaxing and you will leave feeling transported and fulfilled after an hour of story telling with the master, Helen Lawry.

‘I Spy With My Little Ahhhh’ tells the story of a road trip – a road trip on a hot summer day in a car with no air conditioning, back in the day before iPads and possibly when seatbelts were optional. As usual, Helen had the kids eating out of the palm of her hand, in her calm, engaging story telling style.

The story is a trip down memory lane for the adults watching and somewhat eye opening for the kids. The kids piped up with questions such as “What is an ashtray?” and “What’s a roadhouse? Is that like an OTR?” throughout the show, while afterwards the adults reminisced about their own childhood family road trips.

We absolutely loved Helen’s past two Fringe shows, ‘Return To Village’ and ‘Party For Two’ – I must admit, we did miss having an interactive component in this newest offering, however that didn’t stop our kids from thoroughly enjoying an hour of delightful storytelling.

We would suggest this show is best suited for kids aged 4-10 years old.
