I had been looking forward to participating in this Indonesian Batik Printing workshop ever since I signed up for it, and I loved it!  Rehana, a native Pakistani and textile designer by profession, who also spent a number of years in Indonesia, led a class of ten on a step-by-step journey of crafting our very own Batik printed scarf.  We learnt traditional printing techniques using brushes and Tjanting, to create waxen patterns, then experimented with dyes to create different effects.  It was a beautiful, mindful experience, and even though there is still one more step left in the process (to be completed at home) I’m proud of my creation!  I highly recommend Rehana’s workshops, Studio Rags, where she also teaches various tie-dyeing techniques and watercolour painting.  She believes that teaching textile art and craft skills, adds real value to people and empowers them to lead happier lives.
