A suburban nightmare; Marion and Douglas are trapped in a stagnant relationship, blunted by routine and of boredom in extremis. Assorted characters, past and present, benign and malevolent, inhabit the periphery of the couple’s existence and wreak havoc on their emotional states. They are strangers under the same roof, lamenting the lack of meaningful and satisfying lives, lost opportunities and unfulfilled dreams. Lives that are haunted and held captive by a horrible truth that must unravel under the torment of time.

Bernie Maxwell and Romina Tappi return to Adelaide to reprise their drama of 'Hopes and Dreams', receiving rave reviews from the 2022 Adelaide Fringe Festival and the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Romina has more than 30 years' experience in professional Theatre in Australia and Europe, holding the role of the Artistic Director and Teacher Trainer in Theatre in Italy for twenty years. Romina is an accomplished actor, director, writer, dramaturg and singer.
With near three decades in community theatre, Bernie has numerous acting, writing, producing and directing for the theatre credits to his name, and has received several theatre award nominations in the Canberra region, and brings his original play back to the Adelaide stage for the 2026 Adelaide Fringe.
