The Brazilians have a zest for life and Music Passion Bossa are three things that can bring you joy in life. It’s also the show that brings a little bit of Brazil to Adelaide! The setting is a bar in Brazil where a band of musicians play contemporary songs with the sweet sounds of Brazil. Whether it was Astrud Gilberto’s Girl from Ipanema or the Guns and Roses hit Sweet Child of Mine you couldn’t help but move your feet. If there’s one thing that Brazilian’s know, it’s that music gives you life. Add in passion, dance and food and you have the meaning of life right in the palm of your hand! This show captures all of that in one hour. Singers Deborah Herraiz and Amanda Alves sang us through a feast of traditional Brazilian and international hits with up-tempo jazzy bossa beats along with songs of sweet and softer melodies like Swing Low Sweet Chariot. There were mashups and medleys: the Bee Gees How Deep Is Your Love with George Michael’s Careless Whisper, Adele’s Rolling in the Deep and Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You and a string of Michael Jackson songs all with a Brazilian flavour. The show had a hit after hit and it was dance, dance, dance with pure infectious joy! Storyteller Talita Fontainha gave us a lesson about the history of the Brazilian people and the mix of Indian, African, and Portuguese cultures blended into one. Music Passion Bossa is a celebration of the legacy and achievements of Brazil’s rich culture. It was a feel good vibe from start to finish.
