Black Box Theatre

The Black Box Theatre is a bespoke pop-up venue, with an outdoor rose garden bar and views of First Creek, the Cascade Fountain and the Bicentennial Conservatory. It is curated by Artistic Director Joanne Hartstone and run by South Australian Artists and Fringe Lovers.

Shows at the Black Box Theatre have won eleven Adelaide Fringe Awards including the inaugural Made In Adelaide Award, three Best Theatre Awards, and two Adelaide Critics Circle Awards. Plus our Artistic Director, Head of Production, and Front of House Manager have all individually won ‘Spirit Of The Fringe’ awards.

The theatre has been designed by Tom Kitney to facilitate high quality productions with cutting edge technical capabilities. Plus we have air-conditioning, total blackout, reduced noise bleed... and the prettiest box office in Adelaide.

Find us on Hackney Road (parking lot 39), just minutes away from Adelaide's bustling east-end fringe gardens, North Terrace tram stop and Rundle Street.
