Only Connect
Only Connect draws into focus a range of differing strategies utilised
by artists working cross-culturally. While recent years have seen an
improvement in the awareness of cultural exploitation and appropriation
across the creative arts, this understanding is not universally shared
and is a growing point of contention. Rather than retreat from this
fraught position, the artists in this exhibition have explored
potentially deeper and more sensitive means of engagement and
cross-cultural exchange. Only Connect seeks to contribute to a vital
conversation, framed around a selection of recent work from Australian
and Indian artists.
Featuring a range of media, including video,
drawing and painting, Only Connect is a rich and varied exhibition.
Featuring
work by Max Callaghan, Daniel Connell, Jake Holmes & Himanshu Vyas.
