Also featured on this special night will be other Miles classics from albums such as ‘Round Midnight’, ‘Milestones’, ‘Porgy and Bess’ and ‘Someday My Prince will Come’ songs of Miles second golden period with Columbia Records between 1957-63.

‘Kind of Blue’ changed people lives and the direction of music, songs like ‘So What, All Blues’ and ‘Freddie Freeloader’ recorded in one take will all be performed live.

This special Fringe night is for jazz lovers in an intimate setting, fully seated in night club mode–just like Birdland in 1959. Jazz has a home this Fringe at The GC.

Miles Davis: Kind of Blue – a complete performance of the iconic ‘Kind of Blue’ album plus other Miles classics (1957-1963) came about as an idea by show producer Rob Pippan, himself a Miles Davis fanatic.

“This concert is ‘a passion project’. I have every Miles album on both vinyl and CD format and always play Miles in my house. This concert is my way of paying tribute to music a lot of people love but don't have a chance to see performed live. What we are trying to achieve with the concert is a chance for the audience to hear live the greatest jazz album of all time, plus other Miles early Columbia period classics and secondly to bring a jazz option to Fringe audiences. All band members are huge Miles fans and this show is a true labour of love.” – Rob Pippan.

The ‘Kind of Blue’ band features SA’s leading jazz session musicians inc. Chris Weber (trumpet), David Theak (sax), Tom Pulford (alto), Shaun Duncan (bass/MD), John McDermott (drums) and Dave McEvoy (piano).
