Wherever or whenever this show comes up, I can't recommend it strongly enough. James Barr brings experiences that are all too common and often unheard to the stage in a masterpiece of brave narrative and carefully timed humour I may completely appreciate for a while to come. Domestic violence is is a hard topic but the catharsis for survivors taking power over and in their own narrative is a true inspiration

In a world where domestic violence against men is virtually invisible, James Barr throws the spotlight directly onto his own experience. He masterfully blends riotous comedy with honest recounting of his past trauma. This show excels because of James’s authenticity, massive heart, comedic skill and an extremely well crafted script. An emotional roller coaster and a standing ovation. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Plenty of comedy. Some light-hearted and some dark, as James explored a serious topic. Delighted to be able to catch this UK comedian at Fringe.

Absolutely brilliant - it's true that it's easier to talk about things if we can laugh about them, and James Barr is helping us pave the way to progressive conversations about domestic abuse through his side splitting comedy. An intensely likeable performer that I hope to see more of.

masterful use of humour as a tool to discuss troubling subject matter. I felt completely safe in James' hands even as he lead the audience through his most unsafe moments. also, a couple of fuckin ripper jabs at the royals

This was great - not what we expected - but a really great show. It was confronting at times, but balanced with humour and lightness that lifted you back up. Whether it's a better understanding of what happens in a German club, or maybe of something more close to home, you'll walk away with a fresh perspective.
