2018 Annual Review

We’ve run the numbers and can officially say that Adelaide Fringe 2018 smashed all previous records, and remains the largest Fringe festival in the world after Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Artists sold a huge 705,761 tickets at this year’s Fringe, and there were 2.7 million accumulated attendances across all Fringe events.

$16.6 million worth of tickets were sold at the Fringe this year and, thanks to our abolishment of inside charges, more than $15 million of this landed directly into the pockets of artists and venues. A huge injection into the arts!

We also attracted 20,244 Interstate and International visitors – up 8% on 2017 – and these visitors delivered $29.5 million of new money to the state. Gross expenditure to South Australia associated with the 2018 Fringe was a record $90.6 million.

There’s so much more that we could tell you, but most importantly we want to say one thing: thank you! Thank you for being part of another record breaking season of Adelaide Fringe. Thank you for believing in the wow, and taking risks. And most importantly, thank you for supporting our amazing artists each and every year.

We have big things in store for 2019 and we can’t wait to bring you along for the journey.
