APRA

Australasian Performing Right Association
You may need a licence to authorise the public performance/communication of copyright music. If you are making recorded copies of existing musical works (reproductions) you may need a licence from APRA's sister society AMCOS (Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners' Society).

APRA|AMCOS administer the rights of the world's composers, songwriters and publishers in Australia and New Zealand.  APRA|AMCOS grants licenses to users for 'public performance', 'communication to the public' and 'reproduction' (in some instances only) of musical works. An APRA|AMCOS licence will cover the use of music by both Australian and overseas creators of music. If an individual or organisation wishes to publicly perform (ie live musicians) or communicate (ie music on hold) copyright music they will require a license from APRA|AMCOS. The reproduction of music (music in film) may require additional licences, but contact APRA|AMCOS in the first instance to discuss. If a license is not obtained when required, a copyright user may infringe copyright laws.

Licensing for Fringe Events
If you're presenting an event at Adelaide Fringe, you may need a license from APRA|AMCOS. Please contact Helen Page at APRA|AMCOS' Adelaide office with details of your performance, or complete the online enquiry form.

Royalties
If you are a creator of original music, APRA may be able to collect royalties for you for the performances at the Adelaide Fringe and similar events. If you think you may be eligible to join APRA|AMCOS, please contact the APRA|AMCOS office or email sa@apra.com.au.
